How to Bag Those Eye Bags
The party season is upon us which means it’s time to get your dancing shoes on and party the night away! Although this can be fun, it can lead to feeling tired. Sleepiness, lack of alertness and feeling fresh, here are four simple tips to help get ready for the day:
• Stay well hydrated during the day. The human body is 60% water, and most of the chemical reactions in the body need water in order to be conducted. Try to consume the recommended intake of approximately 2 litres of fluids per day. Eating large meals and drinking high amounts of fluids may affect sleep quality, therefore try to limit consumption several hours before bedtime.
• Make sure your pillow is fluffy, so you don’t wake up puffy! Always ensure you choose the best option in terms of your duvet, mattress and pillows to get the best night’s sleep. Also you can adapt these to the season, like opting for a warmer blanket.
• Plain old tiredness is also a major culprit. We are all guilty of sitting in front of our computers and televisions for far too long. We must give our eyes, and ourselves, a rest as well. Remember, it’s called “Beauty Sleep” for a reason, so let’s all get plenty of it.
• If you feel tired you may be inclined to increase/maintain your energy level with artificial stimulants containing caffeine (coffee, energy drinks etc.). Also, may people grab a glass of alcohol (wine, beer, etc.) as a nightcap. Alcohol and caffeine can affect sleep quality and quantity, therefore avoid drinks containing this several hours before sleep. Alcohol may also affect your hydration status as it is a diuretic; it stimulates your body to remove fluids. Staying well-hydrated is important for many body processes.
