Give your skin a helping hand this winter
Cold weather, central heating and over-indulgence can all take their toll on your skin’s condition and appearance during the winter season. So, here’s a little reminder of the golden rules for happy winter skin:
Golden rule 1: Moisturise like you mean itMake sure your face is treated to a great moisturiser, every morning and evening, and give your body a daily slathering of something containing nourishing shea butter for instance, or argan or coconut oil. This can help keep skin smooth and protected*. Remember to apply lip balm as often as you can remember, too. Keep a pot or stick by the bed, in the car and in coat pockets, so it’s always close at hand.
Golden rule 2: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate Heating can have a drying effect on the body, so don’t skimp on your daily water intake! Experiment with herbal and fruit teas (they all count) or enliven your water bottle with fruit slices or fresh berries. You could also consider using a humidifier at home to counteract the drying effects of heating.
Golden rule 3: Rest is best Your skin will thank you for plentiful rest—and tell tales on you, if you’re not getting enough! So, consider an early night or two to catch up on your sleep and help banish dark circles and dull skin at the same time. Don’t forget, bedtime is also a great opportunity to layer on more moisturiser and let it work that magic.
